I H AD A DREAM.
|
Sleeping yesterday,
Had I,
A dream. You and I.
In a planet of our own.
Walked like king and queen.
Pages knelt around us
With laughter in the air.
Our prosperity, a turn away.
Role playing in mirth satiated.
In my dream the sky was clear.
The stars were shining.
The moon was full,
And the air was cool.
In my dreams, the days and nights were safe.
There was no fear of insecurity.
No thoughts of hunger.
And no tears shed because of war
In my dream people lived together,
Like a common community,
Enhancing the goodness of humanity,
And the glory given to us by the Almighty.
In my dreams the birds were singing.
The lions were roaring, elephants resting.
The buffalo’s calves playing and rabbits running.
Without fear of interference by man’s hunting.
Suddenly I woke up to reality.
Where I had to face the evil of the humanity
Wars, hunger, oppression and insecurity
Are daily occurrences and plenty.
People are scared of explosions
Everywhere there is pollution
In the name of civilization
We resulted in cultural erosion.
Expansion and boom of population.
Has led to overcrowding and suffocation
This creates a lot of confusion
And increase the rate of disease infection.
Who is to blame for all this?
I asked myself as I sit
Then I realized the cause of it.
You and I: The humanity.

A GIRL CHILD
|
Aah! The cry of the approaching baby is heard.
Ooh! The mother feels better after she heard.
And she is at last relieved with the discomfort she had.
What is the sex of the baby? The father inquired.
What? Why a girl and a boy is what I required
The mother s to be blamed he declares.
The mother says it’s not her but God.
And to her a girl is more valuable than gold.
And this will be determined and bold.
The girl grows to ten without education.
She deserves to go to school for ignorance eradication.
To build her country and make it a better nation.
When she is twelve, she is subjected to circumcision.
They call it cleansing, that female genital mutilation.
And it is harmful and against our constitution.
Immediately she is forced into early marriage.
And then she looses all her courage.
And when pregnant she can easily miscarry.
Make the world a better place, to UN send delegation
In the parliament present a bill for discussion.
For this matter is serious and needs immediate action.
Let give the girls their rights.
Let them enjoy their days and nights
And God will help us and we shall relight.

AIDS
|
Aids, a harsh punishment
To all guilty and innocent
In the world, in all continents
You destroy people’s sentiments.
Teenagers, babies, adults and the old
I hope you have been told
About this evil animal not a toad
But Aids is what it is called.
Aids has no cure.
So we have to conjure
And talk to the premature
On how to be secure.
Oh Aids! How are you spread?
Heavy indeed is your tread
Tell me what is your speed
So that I can try to outbid.
Use a contaminated blade, you get Aids.
Have unsafe sex, you have aids.
Have unscreened transfusion, you are with aids,
Even children from infected mothers can get aids.
Aids, Aids, Aids, everywhere you go.
Aids, Aids, Aids, everything you do.
An aid, Aids, Aids, always accompanies you.
Aids, Aids, Aids, tell me where to go.
Aids is real, be watchful.
Aids is dangerous be mindful
Aids is fatal be careful.
Aids has no cure be faithful

AS I SIT
|
As I sit and stare at the horizon.
I see you staring back at me.
With eyes so deep and blue
And a face so sad and gloomy.
Why that sad face?
Why that scary stare?
Why all the pain in you?
Why do you despair?
Is it about your present life?
Or about your regrets?
Is it because of the lies?
Or it is all about your image?
You were sincere and lovely
Honest, good, beautiful and worthy
Then you got ambitious and cunning.
And started selling yourself for money
You met john, James and Jeremy.
Paul, Peter, Jacob and many.
With them you slept like an animal.
And left them with regrets and turmoil.
One by one passed away to eternity
And to all funerals you went without shame,
While you knew the death cause is the same
And you are the reason of all what came.
As I sit and stare at you
I remember what is due
Stand and go to do my job
And thanked God for the wisdom I got.

DO WE ?
|
When we sit to feed our satisfied tummies,
Do we sit and ponder?
Think of them?
Those among us
That are emaciated.
Those that their stomachs are flat,
Their mouths dry,
Their skeleton weak.
Those among us that breakfast, lunch and super are just dreams.
When we throw food and let it flow in the drainage.
Do we think?
Think of those who passed away of hunger?
How many of them in ukambani?
How many in marsabit and how many elsewhere?
Are the numbers significant or just statistics?
Are they among us or we consider them as “them”?
So before eating, before throwing away, before wasting.
Why don’t we think of them and act like a responsible society?
But do we?
